Calls on Ellsworth to Stand on Principle on Obamacare Vote
INDIANAPOLIS (March 17, 2010) – This morning on WOWO’s Fort Wayne News and WXNT Indianapolis’ Abdul in the Morning, Dan Coats questioned Congressman Brad Ellsworth’s indecision on Obamacare.
A strong and consistent majority of Hoosiers have rejected as the wrong approach for our country the liberal Democrat program of President Obama, Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid – particularly the radical left’s move to nationalize one-sixth of the nation’s economy through extreme health care legislation.
Talking to Charly Butcher on WOWO, Coats said, “The job of Congressmen … is to make tough decisions. You don’t go there and then wait-and-see what the party wants to do and look it over and hedge.
“You got to go with a foundation of principle,” Coats said. “Either you want more government involvement in our lives or you want less. Either you want to control the economy from Washington or you put incentives in so the private sector can grow the economy. If you don’t go with those basic underlying principles you’re going to be hemming and hawing, pulled and torn every which way.”
On Abdul in the Morning, Coats said, “This thing has been up for a year now, I don’t know what [Ellsworth] is waiting to hear or see. I’ve traveled this state and talked to thousands of Hoosiers over the past many weeks and they are clearly opposed to a one-size-fits-all Obamacare bill. They want to scratch this and start over and do sensible and affordable reforms.”
