COATS: ELLSWORTH RUBBERSTAMPS LIBERAL POWER GRAB

Ellsworth Enabling Unprecedented Federal Intrusion into Hoosier Lives
INDIANAPOLIS (March 18, 2010) – One day after calling on Congressman Brad Ellsworth to step forward and tell Hoosiers how he would vote on Obamacare, Dan Coats, candidate for the United States Senate, released the following statement regarding Congressman Ellsworth’s vote today against requiring an up-or-down vote on the massive bill:

“Congressman Brad Ellsworth finally made it official and reaffirmed his support for the radical and intrusive health care bill drafted by Barack Obama, Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid.

“By doing so, Congressman Ellsworth chose to avoid a transparent up-or-down vote on this extreme federal power grab and massive tax increase. Instead, the Congressman voted to give Nancy Pelosi carte blanche to ‘deem’ – an arcane procedure used to avoid an up-or-down vote – a radical, left-wing health care bill already rejected by a large and consistent majority of Hoosiers.

“Congressman Brad Ellsworth voted today for higher taxes, more government intervention and radical left-leaning liberal policies that Americans have rejected time and time again.

“Congressman Brad Ellsworth is an enabler. His vote today against a transparent up-or-down vote was a rubberstamp on parliamentary trickery and sleight of hand on a plan that will bring an unprecedented intrusion of the federal government in our personal health care decisions.”
