Coats Releases Hoosier Health Care Plan
Preserve Personal Freedoms and Consumer Control While Driving Down Costs
INDIANAPOLIS (April 8, 2010) – Today, Dan Coats, candidate for United States Senate, released the Dan Coats Hoosier Health Care Plan, which focuses on immediate solutions to rising health care costs that will not increase our debt, raise taxes or kill Hoosier jobs.
“Hoosiers have spoken: the goal should not be expansion of government involvement in health care, but instead a prescription for a healthier system that lowers costs while preserving personal freedoms,” Coats said. “The elements of this plan are based on the principle that individual consumers retain control over their own decisions and calls for policy changes only where there is broad public support – without burying our children and grandchildren in debt.
“After repealing the damage that has been done, we must seize the opportunity to ensure that constructive solutions to address the health care problems we face are the result of listening to the American people. Health care costs are out of control; we can make improvements without sacrificing personal freedoms and without tax increases and more deficit spending,” Coats concluded.
Among the ten priorities outlined in the Dan Coats Hoosier Health Care Plan are: allowing competition across state lines, liability reform, allowing for the immediate creation of Association Health Plans and expanding Health Savings Accounts.
