Coats Visits Damon Motor Coach
More Government Spending is Not Path for Job Growth
INDIANAPOLIS (April 14, 2010) – Dan Coats, candidate for United States Senate, released the following statement after visiting Damon Motor Coach in Elkhart, Indiana, this morning. During his visit, Dan met with President and COO Bill Fenech, line employees and discussed the economic difficulties currently facing the company.
“Damon Motor Coach is an integral part of the Elkhart community and a great Hoosier company. Like other businesses in the Elkhart area, Damon faces uncertainty about the future due to the policies being enacted by the Obama Administration.
“Since President Obama’s ’stimulus’ plan was signed into law in February 2009, Indiana has seen a net job loss of 76,700. Elkhart County has had the largest over-the-year percentage decrease in employment in the entire country of negative 14.5 percent. How’s that for stimulus?
“The failures of President Obama’s ’stimulus’ plan proves once again that the free market creates jobs, not government. Entrepreneurs create jobs, not bureaucrats. Hoosiers create jobs, not Washington politicians.
“I will work to grow our way out of these difficult and uncertain financial times by reducing the tax burden on businesses and families and reforming burdensome government regulations on businesses.
“The Obama Administration and Democrats have done the opposite. The Obamacare health care legislation will reduce household income in Elkhart by five percent and increase taxes by $29.7 million.
“Liberal tax and spend policies are not the path to job creation.”
