Obama Didn’t Care About Debt When He Signed
Unsustainable Debt Is Not News to Hoosiers
INDIANAPOLIS (April 28, 2010) – According to Reuters, President Barack Obama “told a commission that will suggest ways to rein in soaring U.S. budget deficits to consider every possible remedy to put the country on a path toward fiscal health.” He said, “It’s important that we not restrict the review or the recommendations that this commission comes up with in any way. Everything has to be on the table.” In response, Dan Coats, candidate for U.S. Senate, released the following statement:
“When the Obama Administration focused on a job-killing, deficit-inflating, budget-busting health care bill, U.S. national debt wasn’t a concern. It’s curious that as more focus shifts to the 2010 election cycle President Obama is taking such a concerned look at our nation’s financial situation.
“Congress continues to pass appropriations bills we can’t finance. This is not news. It took us 200 years to amass $1 trillion in debt and less than 30 years to add another $12 trillion.
“As a United States Senator, I will work to stop spending on any new programs; no matter how popular they are, until we can balance our budget. Without doing so, our economy cannot recover as quickly as it should.”
