Faithfulness to the Constitution

By Pete Seat

In case you missed it, Dan Coats sat down with WTHR’s Kevin Rader yesterday to discuss the 2010 election and specifically his principles, immigration and the extreme Obama-Ellsworth liberal agenda.

From the interview:

Coats is spending this summer criss-crossing the state campaigning

for the Senate seat that will soon be vacated by the retiring Evan Bayh.

A former US senator and ambassador to Germany, Coats says Hoosiers

should be very comfortable with him because he still stands for the same

things he always has.

“Limited government, less spending, lower taxes. A government not

intrusive in our daily lives. More privacy and faithfulness to our constitution

of the United States,” said Coats.

Coats says the biggest issues currently confronting the United States are

the economy, the deficit, health care and immigration. He says it’s wrong

for the federal government to sue a state for taking action on immigration

that the federal government should have done. It’s an issue that has

confronted the US since the 1980s and candidate Coats says the problem

is the laws are not enforced.

Another Pro-Life Endorsement

Yet another prominent pro-life organization endorsed Dan Coats over incumbent Congressman Brad Ellsworth yesterday.  In a release, the Susan B. Anthony List, a nationwide network of over 280,000 Americans, pointed to Dan’s consistent record of supporting pro-life principles as their reason for choosing him over the incumbent.

SBA List Candidate Fund President Marjorie Dannenfelser said, “Once again, the Senate is in great need of the pro-life statesmanship Dan Coats has already proven time and again to possess.  His commitment to rescind taxpayer funding of abortion in health care in every aspect of federal spending is urgently needed in the coming Congress.”

Noting Congressman Ellsworth supported the Obama-Pelosi health spending bill even when 80 percent of his constituents are opposed to using taxpayer dollars for abortions, Dannenfelser said, “Hoosiers can trust Dan Coats to represent their views on the Life issue and to vote according to his conscience regardless of any political calculus.”

Contract From America Signing

Dan Coats committed to protecting the Constitution, rejecting cap-and-trade legislation, demanding a balanced budget and putting a stop to runaway government spending, among other pledges, by signing the Contract from America yesterday.
