COATS REAFFIRMS SUPPORT FOR

EARMARK MORATORIUM AND BALANCED BUDGET AMENDMENT

INDIANAPOLIS (November 11, 2010) – Senator-elect Dan Coats today reaffirmed his support for an earmark moratorium and a Balanced Budget Amendment.  Proposals for both are expected to be considered during a caucus of Senate Republicans of the 112th Congress next week.

“Hoosiers made their voices loud and clear this year that Washington’s spending spree must stop.  For far too long, members of Congress have been more worried about sending pork back home than getting our nation out of debt,” Senator-elect Coats said.

He added, “We must reform the broken earmark process and pass a Balanced Budget Amendment immediately to once-and-for-all get our fiscal house in order.  Present and future generations of Americans are depending on Congress to make the tough decisions to put us back on the right path and get people back to work.”
