SENATOR-ELECT COATS TALKS TO PRESIDENT OBAMA
In Phone Call, Coats Conveys Wishes of Hoosiers Looking for Certainty
INDIANAPOLIS (November 23, 2010) – This morning, Senator-elect Dan Coats received a call from President Barack Obama. The call came as the President was en route to Kokomo, Indiana.
The President congratulated Senator-elect Coats on his recent victory and added he looked forward to seeing him soon in Washington.
Senator-elect Coats thanked the President for his call, welcomed him and Vice President Joe Biden to Indiana and conveyed the wishes of Hoosiers looking for economic certainty to help rebound our economy.
Telling the President he had been “traveling the state for the past nine months, listening to Hoosiers,” Senator-elect Coats said his constituents are looking to grow our economy and get back to work.
“I believe this is a goal we both share,” he told the President.
Senator-elect Coats has pledged to cut spending, oppose tax increases, reduce burdensome regulations and enact policies that will encourage innovation and private sector job growth.
In a separate statement, Senator-elect Coats added, “Hoosiers continue to feel the pinch of a struggling economy. Our job creators feel a growing sense of anxiety and uncertainty over our economy’s precarious position and are looking for an immediate change in direction to combat high unemployment and soaring deficits.”
